(Anonymous) 2013-07-27 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)“Well, yes,” Baekhyun answers unimpressed.
He wonders how in the world news like that travel so fast between his group of friends and people he’s never met before. Normally, it doesn’t work like that, mainly because only important and life-changing stuff goes around that fast.
Or tell-tales of new romances, as in Baekhyun’s case. At least that’s what Baekhyun thinks.
Why random people he doesn’t even know call him about that though, Baekhyun doesn’t know. He blames his room-mate Jongdae.
“Good, I thought you wanted to know,” the person on the phone lamely says and hangs up.
Baekhyun takes a minute to let that phone call sink in until he turns around to look at his room-mate, who is currently sitting on his bed with a bowl of popcorn in his hands. Clearly, he’s very entertained by Baekhyun’s momentary misery, that dick.
“Do you know why random people call and ask me about my private life?” he asks Jongdae, who in turn pops a single popcorn in his mouth.
“Sure. We discussed it all over Twitter the other day and that’s when other people got to know about this as well,” he non-chalantly replies.
“Why do you discuss my private life over Twitter?” Baekhyun asks, not expecting an answer though, and questions his choice of friends for the upteenth time.
“Because it’s fun and you never go there, so the chances of you finding out we gossip about you are really low.”
“Fuck my life,” Baekhyun comments and lies down on his own bed.
“For the record, Junmyeon didn’t participate. He told us to let it go and think about how this might hurt you, that lame-ass, maybe that makes you feel better?” Jongdae offers, still grinning.
Baekhyun can only groan in response.
*
The first time Baekhyun decides to bring his new boyfriend over to introduce him to his friends - all part of an Indie band named El Dorado - happens on a bright, sunny day.
He waits in front of the school until Kim Jongin appears in front of him, all smiles. Baekhyun smiles back and hugs him, before they start going to Baekhyun’s house, which isn’t really that far away from the school.
On the way to his house (a voice similar to Jongdae’s reminds him that it is his house and Baekhyun just rooms with him; he ignores that voice) they chat about all kinds of stuff, including how Jongin might go to this new ballet in town, something he’s been interested in a while, Baekhyun noticed.
“So, Jongin, are you ready to meet these losers I call my friends?” Baekhyun asks, when he suddenly stops in front of a house, startling Jongin, who apparently didn’t realize that they were already there.
“I guess,” he replies a little shyly.
“Here we go then,” Baekhyun says and they enter the house together, where everyone shows various signs of excitement - or lack thereof (courtesy of Jongdae of course).
After they are done with introductions everyone gathers around their instruments to start their band practice; Baekhyun is lead singer, Minseok plays the guitar, Junmyeon - still all smiles, but when isn’t he smiling - is responsible for the bass and then there is Kyungsoo behind the drums, who glares daggers at both Baekhyun and Jongin, which no one really notices, except for Jongin, who doesn’t really know what he’s done to justify such a reaction, so he ignores it for the time being.
“So,” Jongdae - who sits next to Jongin - starts, “You’re a high-schooler?”
“Yes, though if it’s any consolation for you, I’ll graduate soon,” Jongin replies and after that, they fall into an uncomfortable silence, while they listen to the band - also with various signs of excitement. Jongin, Jongdae thinks, obviously never heard them before, so he’s understandably excited. He however doesn’t really care other than the fact that they are currently crowding his living-room and turns on his Game Boy, bored already.
He also notices after some time that Jongin considerably grows more and more comfortable the longer they listen, which is funny to him because the song they are currently playing isn’t even that great to begin with, since Baekhyun wrote it in one of his emo phases last year when his then boyfriend broke up with him.
But after they are finished with the song - much to Jongdae’s surprise - Jongin jumps up, clapping wildly. From someone who seemed pretty shy and quiet that was a surprise, Jongdae thinks, but then turns back to his Game Boy.
“You guys are great and wonderful!” Jongin says then.
Jongdae looks up again, just to see what could be interpreted as stars in said boy’s eyes. This definitely put the boy into weird territory, because in his expert opinion, the band wasn’t even that great, but then again for a quite young band they had quite the fan following - or maybe Baekhyun just said that to not look pathetic.
“You think?” Baekhyun replies and seems surprised, but the rest of the band just grin. Well, excluding Kyungsoo, who still glares at Jongin, who in turn doesn’t seem to realize this time.
The rest of the day goes by in a blur and after Baekhyun brings Jongin to his house, they even kiss good-bye. Baekhyun notices that his boyfriend seemed to be quite eager about the band, which in turn pleased him a lot. He didn’t know that Jongin would be the type to like their music that much, but in the end it didn’t matter that much.
This is why he’s now lying down in his bed with a grin in his face.
“Can you stop grinning so stupidly? It’s giving me a headache,” Jongdae says then from beside his own bed.
It doesn’t really make sense that they are sleeping in the same room, when they have a house, but no one really questions it - Jongdae’s nagging doesn’t count though.
“I’m in such a good mood that even your terrible jokes can’t bring me down today, Jongdae, so don’t even try,” Baekhyun replies.
“Ugh, stupid people in love. Why do you do this to me?” Jongdae complains and turns over in his bed instead.
It doesn’t take long for Baekhyun to follow his lead, and the last thing he thinks about is his wonderful boyfriend Jongin Jongin Jongin....
...until he opens his eyes in his dream to find himself in an environment that seems far too real to even be considered a dream.
And in this dream a stranger with wild black hair suddenly appears skating along. And this is a dilemma, because he suddenly also feels really attracted to that stranger.
“Is this real?” he asks, not really expecting an answer, because well, he’s dreaming.
“Yes, it’s your dream after all. Maybe next time you can think of a nicer environment though,” the stranger answers and disappears through a door Baekhyun didn’t even notice before.
And that is the moment, Baekhyun’s subconscious realizes he has a problem.
~
When Baekhyun wakes up the next day, the first thing he notices is that it’s already quite sunny outside, judging by the rays of light that come into his room.
“Look who is finally awake,” Jongdae says then when he enters the room.
“Fuck you, Jongdae,” Baekhyun replies.
“Oh, someone got up with such a good mood, today. What happened to your yesterday self, all sunshine and rainbows and shit?”
As a response, Baekhyun just throws a pillow in his room-mate’s general direction.
Then he remembers his dream and slightly blushes as he remembers the boy in his dreams.
He jumps out of his bed and ignores Jongdae, who is babbling nonsense about sudden moodswings. He really can’t be bothered with him right now, because there are far more important things to worry about.
For example, drawing a real life replica of the boy. He’s glad for once that he isn’t like that loser Kris, who can’t draw to save his life, even though he always goes around saying how is art is superior to everything else. When he’s finished (in record-time might he add proudly) he runs back into his room, where Jongdae is still on his bed.
When he excitedly shows him his drawing, Jongdae just raises an eyebrow.
“Why are you showing me a drawing of a stick figure? Are you into art now or something? Because if you are I suggest you forget about that....”
“Do you know this person?” Baekhyun completely ignores what Jongdae has just told him and instead tries to make use of the enormous network Jongdae built over the years.
“No, I don’t know any stick figures, but you can try asking Kris. He seems like the type to be helpful to your cause,” Jongdae answers.
“Maybe you’re right. See you!”
“But, I didn’t mean it like that. That was clearly a joke. What is wrong with that guy?” Jongdae can only wonder, but decides it isn’t worth his time and goes back to sleep. Whatever Baekhyun wants to know, he will eventually find out (even if he still barely cares, but that’s just how their relationship is).
*
Kris, as Baekhyun finds out later, apparently knows that guy from his drawing and he’s the happiest person ever. Why Kris can find out who he means from just a simple drawing, he isn’t sure, but he also doesn’t question it. Maybe Kris is an art person after all.
“So, who is he?” he excitedly (but not too excitedly, he doesn’t want to appear desperate or anything) asks and blinks his eyes in attempt to act cute, but fails miserably.
“Why do you want to know Zitao? He’s new here, he moved here just a month ago. And why do you even know about him?”
“Zitao. Okay. Where does he usually hang out?” Baekhyun ignores Kris’ questions and even if it may seem rude to answer questions with questions, he can’t say he cares that much.
“He actually works at amazon. When he doesn’t work he....Why are you leaving? I’m not done here, come back you fool!”
When Baekhyun runs all the way back to his house (and ignores Jongdae again), he can only think about ordering stuff he doesn’t need from there in hopes of meeting the man of his dreams. Literally.
