Baekhyun and Chanyeol are fighting.

To be honest, no one in the dorm actually knows over what (Chanyeol included), but it doesn’t mean their fighting makes the band dynamics any less awkward. The oh so reliable fanservice couple is now dead. Chanyeol is forced to sleep in the living room with Kris and Yixing. The lineup is now awkward. Interactions are forced, stilted, awkward.

It is a downright calamity.

The worst thing SM could have possibly imagined and did not because, even if they were to fight, best friends are best friends, forced into peace by the common dream of the idol life.

But Baekhyun still will not talk to Chanyeol outside mandatory whispers at events, where the most he ever says is, “School your face, loser, you look like a demented whale.” Any attempts made by Chanyeol to correct whatever has been done (mixed CDs, offers for jam sessions, the last piece of samgyupsal) have failed.

Management is desperate. The band is desperate. Chanyeol…isn’t really that desperate, but three things in a list are always better than two.

“You and Chanyeol are forming a small acoustic subgroup while EXO is taking a break from promotions,” Seunghwan tells Baekhyun over dinner. It’s just K tonight, and Chanyeol is looking diligently down at his rice instead of anyone else. “Yixing and Lu Han will have something similar in Taiwan.”

“Why not Kyungsoo instead?” Baekhyun shoots back immediately. “They’ve already done shit together like that on the radio.” Kyungsoo raises a brow at Baekhyun before leaning over the table to grab a piece of kimchi.

“Management wanted you so don’t complain and do it,” Seunghwan says. Baekhyun calmly places his chopsticks down and slams the bedroom door closed.

“What the hell did you do?” Sehun hisses.

“I actually have no fucking idea so fuck you,” Chanyeol replies miserably. “I really don’t.”

Chanyeol thinks Baekhyun has been messing with schedules because not once do they go into the recording studio at the same time. When Chanyeol goes in, he listens to the vocals Baekhyun has already sung the day before, sings the background, and plays along to the demo track on his guitar.

It’s only for four songs. They’ll be already.

“We need to practice for live performances you know,” Chanyeol says to Baekhyun one night, sitting on the couch with his guitar. Baekhyun doesn’t answer and goes into the room Chanyeol is no longer allowed in.

Their first performance is some random show neither of them has heard of.

Before Chanyeol can react, he is forced into the handicapped stall by Baekhyun, who slams his lips onto his and makes quick work on the button of his jeans.

What the fuck? Shit.
