collapse
(Anonymous) 2013-08-10 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)Re: collapse
(Anonymous) 2013-08-10 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)Sehun stays dead, and Joonmyun blanches because that means he was right, and that means it was his fault.
He doesn't say anything as they clean Sehun's body away, because it wouldn't be appropriate, and then he doesn't say anything when they're done because it feels too guilty, too late. For the first time Joonmyun is rendered actually speechless.
So he decides not to say anything at all about it. It's gone now anyways, right? Sehun is dead, and the disasters had been following Sehun, so it's gone.
The next day has Joonmyun nearly knocking Jongin down the stairs, and he just barely manages to grab onto Joonmyun's shirt before he starts tumbling all the way down. Zitao, too, is sitting in the car with Joonmyun to wait for their manager when out of nowhere a van smashes into the front. They manage to get out only minor injuries, but it's obvious who has it next.
In the next few days, Kris gets mauled by a stray dog that started off chasing Joonmyun, and Lu Han chokes on a piece of kimchi that he steals out of Joonmyun’s plate, bringing the death count up to three. Joonmyun has, surprisingly, not had any near death experiences himself, nothing to prove that the immortality and not just the horrendous bad luck had been passed on to him.
They haven’t really talked about it up until now, but Joonmyun decides finally that it’s high time they need to. He calls a group meeting, which he hasn’t done since they had to talk about it on that show a year or so ago. It looks a little bit more lonely, with three ominously empty spots and only one leader, perhaps more so than it had when there was only K in Korea and M happily free of team meetings.
“So,” he starts, “I kissed Sehun the other day.” It sounds an awful lot like their meetings used to, like that one time Sehun squirmed, embarrassed, “I think I might like Zitao,” or the other time Jongin had gotten into a spat with Chanyeol and Chanyeol had mistaken it for sexual tension, “Chanyeol hyung kissed me!!”
This time there’s no outburst of laughter or ensuing mudslinging, but someone, Jongin maybe, asks, “Isn’t he dead?”
Joonmyun ignores that, and continues, “I think he might have passed on… what he had to me, because he was capable of dying the day after.”
There’s a moment of silence after that, and then he thinks he hears Baekhyun whisper to Jongdae, “Should we get the knife?”
Chanyeol, on Jongdae’s other side, shakes his head to quickly reject the idea. “You think he passed it to you by kissing, hyung?”
Joonmyun nods, and Chanyeol continues, “Why don’t you just kiss someone off the streets then, maybe that should do it.”
Kyungsoo nods, “It shouldn’t be, well, too hard for you to find someone, right?”
Joonmyun nods, because that is a good idea, even if it had come from Chanyeol, before someone quietly speaks up.
“Are we sure we want to get rid of it?” It’s Zitao, starting off uneasy his Korean before gaining confidence as he goes, “I mean, it’s invincibility, right? It’s pretty cool—” He stops to consider his words, before trying again, “Useful, I mean. What if things keep trying to kill us after it’s gone?”
Some of the members look like they’re considering it, and in the end they decide to pass it off to someone they can get it back from. Which is how Joonmyun is left walking up to their manager’s room awkwardly before schedules, trying not to look him in the eye.
“Sorry hyung,” Joonmyun says when he tiptoes up to kiss him, their manager staring at him like he’s grown an extra head. “It was a dare?”
But it doesn’t work. They have Yixing try tossing a knife at him later, because he looks the most harmless. It spins through the air, and lodges in his back. “Oops?” he says when their manager turns around, wide-eyed, and then sheepishly makes chiyu chiyu fingers in his direction. Obviously, they don’t work, and when their manager starts shouting in pain Yixing backs away and the others quickly rush to call the ambulance.
So Joonmyun still has it.
