of course some of it is sm's fault, chinaline probably saw their incompetence behind the scenes and knew they were screwed if they stayed lol. i think for b1 it was mostly greed though since he did it before they even got big with growl, he just wanted to skip all the steps and go right into sm accepting the gigs for him that he wanted when in sm's pov he was still just a rookie. when b2 and b3 saw how successful he was after leaving they took their chance too tbh but that was the start of everything going downhill for exo/us and we just didn't see it at the time because we thought we overcame everything. to sm though the exo-k/m experiment failed and you can see how obsessed lsm got with nct and making the unit thing really work after that, we've been on borrowed time and even oppars knew that's why they've felt so much pressure until lately

ayrt and i love the essay dw. b3 is probably my least fave out of everyone but he was performing with heavy injuries so i think at least on his side it wasn't greed at all and tbh i always have mixed feelings of resentment and understanding when it comes to the b#s, because of how deeply sm just didn't care for exo-m. which tbh continues now with the nct concept, lsm is obsessed with units but there are clear favorites and to me that's just setting yourself up for failure.

ia with your points though. exo truly a paradigm of how to overcome everything being against you but it still hurts to know that the best time to be a stan was 2013, before they even hit it big... i love them with all my heart but this all makes me want to cry
