001.

Their first meeting goes like this: Baekhyun's twelve, wandering around the train to Hogwarts for an empty seat. He should have known that acting like a know-it-all will get him in trouble, and especially shouldn't have rejected Chanyeol's invitation to board the train together.

"I'm not a muggle," he had said to him the night before Chanyeol left his house, all awkward with his limbs sticking out of his cloak. "I'm a wizard. I can take care of myself and find the seat for first years. It's nothing hard, I'll see you there."

Instead of meeting Chanyeol, though, he gets lost ten minutes after hopping on the train with his luggage on hand. Baekhyun tries not to cry. Slytherins don't cry.

But just before he decides to plop himself on the floor helplessly and maybe whine about his bad luck, he hears a voice over his head.

"Do you need help with that?" Baekhyun looks up to see a tall boy, probably a few years older than him, staring at him pitifully. "First year, aren't you?"

Baekhyun's mesmerized at first, but he looks away quickly. He isn't sure if this one's a muggle—his mother had specifically told him to only befriend purebloods. "Yes," he replies coldly, although his stomach is fluttering with nervousness. "I... was looking for the restroom," he lies inefficiently.

The boy isn't convinced. "With your luggage? I don't think so." He chuckles, tiny mouth spreading into a grin. He takes Baekhyun's luggage and warmly invites him to his compartment, Baekhyun awkwardly shifting his way inside, squinting for suspicious actions. "They usually don't let the students wander around until the train finally settles down in the middle of the trip, so I don't know why they haven't stopped you."

Baekhyun laughs lightly, playing with his fingers as he observes. Something is hanged next to the window sill. Yellow and black robe, definitely a Hufflepuff. They are easy to deal with, he says to himself, and father used to say they're stupid. "You're sitting alone?"

"My friend's meeting his cousins all the way down the corridor," he replies sheepishly, getting a book under his giant scarf. "I'm Kris Wu, by the way. I'm in the Hufflepuff house if you haven't noticed."

Baekhyun straightens his back, chin up and proudly extends a hand. "Byun Baekhyun," he says, "hopefully a Slytherin. It runs in the blood—it'd be a shame not to be one, actually."

Kris gives him an amused stare. "I wouldn't have known you're a Slytherin a few seconds ago," Kris retorts back.

Baekhyun, embarrassed, only purses his lips. It's quiet after that, and Baekhyun can't help but adore Kris' features while he's reading. A Guide To Self Improvement, the book title says, and Baekhyun stifles a snort.

Kris smiles at him in return, eyes crinkling. His smile is enthralling despite the way his gums awkwardly stick out. For a second Baekhyun can't breathe, cheeks burning up. He coughs and removes his gaze, opting to get his bag of candies and awkwardly offering Kris some.

Chanyeol finds him an hour into the trip, furious as he looks at Baekhyun and Kris with wide eyes. "I thought you didn't board," Chanyeol accuses, curly red hair sticking to his face. "I didn't know you were already charming off higher grades."

Baekhyun slaps him in the arm, gritting his teeth. "I don't know why I'm even friends with you," he mutters somberly, extending a hand to grab his things. Kris chuckles at them both lowly, and Chanyeol blinks at him.

For the rest of the trip, Chanyeol doesn't shut up about Quidditch in their compartment, but Baekhyun's head is already too occupied with Kris Wu's smile to spare him attention.

002.

Byun Baekhyun's hard work paid off on his second year. Thankfully, he got into Slytherin, although for some reasons Chanyeol was sorted into Gryffindor.

"It's a conspiracy," Chanyeol had said, and Jongdae, Baekhyun's roommate had set Chanyeol's robe on fire after threatening him to not trespass into Slytherin's common room anymore. "Was it because the sorting hat mistook my hair as another Weasley's?"

He also got recruited into Slytherin's Quidditch team as beater, a dream he never really had before he figured out that Kris Wu was Hufflepuff's seeker. However, during his first match, he never had the intention to head on fight with Kris, but when he got distracted by Kris' smile during the game and accidentally sent a bludger flying in his direction, he thinks it wasn't that bad.

Now, with an apologetic smile, Baekhyun tends an ice pack to Kris' face and secretly thanks the bludger Jongdae violently sent on his way.

"I didn't think I'd be able to talk to you again, especially in this kind of situation," Kris says.

"I really didn't mean it," Baekhyun amends quickly, "I was just... got distracted." It was partly your fault too, he wants to add.

"It's okay. It's Quidditch, after all," Kris says, trying to smile. He winces when the other end of his smile reaches his bruised cheek. "You didn't have to leave the game for me, though."

Baekhyun shrugs, gently dabbing the ointment on Kris' cheek. It's soft, and Baekhyun retreats his hand as fast as a lightning bolt before even thinking about leaving a kiss on his cheek. Kris looks at him, surprised. "My team can do it without me, I'm only a starter player anyway," he stutters, stepping back with a lightheaded feeling. With a frantic wave of his hand, he bids goodbye. "I'll see you around, Kris."

A week later, they meet again, but this time on the corridors.

"My team won," Baekhyun says giddily, and Kris responds with a pat in his head. Kris is still growing, and Baekhyun wonders if he's ever going to catch up on him. It seems like Chanyeol's hogging all the growth luck. "I'm sorry about yours, Kris."

Kris wrinkles his nose. "I was wondering if you can make it up," he says. Lu Han, another fourth year, howls as he walks away. Kris eyes him with distaste. "Perhaps you can make some suggestions?"

It's now or never. Baekhyun, unabashed, straight up suggests a make out session in the abandoned girls' lavatory. Kris laughs at him, body bent in half as he wheezes out laughter, and Baekhyun can't stop his face distort in sheer mortification.

"Maybe next time, Baekhyun," Kris says with tears at the corners of his eyes. "I think a broom date will do for now. What do you say?"

Baekhyun can only nod, before hiding himself under his green wizard hat all day.

006.

"Go away, Kris," Baekhyun mumbles into his pillow. With a loud groan, he tries to kick Kris off his bed and fails miserably as Kris holds his leg firmly.

"No," Kris says persistently for the nth time. "I'm not going to leave."

Baekhyun only gurgles a string of profanities under his breath. "You're not even supposed to be in this room. You're a Hufflepuff, remember? Get your ass out of Slytherin's chamber."

Kris doesn't budge, only puts his leg down. He doesn't tell Baekhyun either that sneaking into Slytherin as a well behaved Hufflepuff already costs him a hundred points away from the House Cup. "Hey," he says slowly. After a few seconds of no response, he runs a hand down Baekhyun's back, leaving tingly sensations as he leans down and chuckles lowly next to Baekhyun's ear. Kris can't see it, but he knows Baekhyun's blushing under his pillow. In the years they've been together, Baekhyun's ears have never failed to make him transparent as they turn beetle red with Kris' light touches no matter what the situation is. "Are you still mad I didn't show up?" he whispers softly.

Yeah, I'm furious right now, Baekhyun wants to say, because who wouldn't be when your boyfriend decided to ditch you for prefect duties? And, worse of all, prefect duties during their anniversary. Baekhyun had waited in vain near the Whomping Willow waiting with his broom for the supposedly romantic broomstick date. "I'm not talking anymore. Goodnight."

"But you have your mouth open right now, Baek. Come on, you know you can't ignore me," Kris says cockily, laughing before dipping down to kiss the back of his neck. That did it—in a string of seconds, Baekhyun's moved all the way from the side of the bed down to the floor.

"Fuck you," Baekhyun says, scowling as he rubs his neck vigorously, trying to ease out his goosebumps. He hates it when Kris does that.

Kris gives him one sultry look from the bed, and with a flick of his tongue on his lower lip, only replies, "Yeah, that was my plan, Baek."

Baekhyun is not convinced, especially when Kris is grinning so stupidly as if Baekhyun's gonna be seduced by that all-gums and ugly smile—but oh, Kris is suddenly leaning down, half of his body hanging off the bed, and Baekhyun only shoves his forehead away with a sigh. Kris stares at him hopefully with his small lips puckered out a few centimeters away from Baekhyun's mouth.

"You think I'm that easy, huh," Baekhyun deadpans.

Kris gives him a small pout. "No, but I figured this"—he starts imitating a fish with his lips, hollowing his cheeks—"will make you feel better."

Baekhyun tries really hard to give him the best I Am Really Mad Right Now face, but only bursts out tittering at Kris' face. "Stop that before I turn you into an actual fish," he says.

Kris sits up and pulls him on the bed, giving him a quick peck. Baekhyun sighs, hands on the other's chest as Kris grins, watching him with sleepy eyes. "I'd take that over you not talking to me," Kris replies. "I'm sorry, I was an ass, but someone nearly blew up our cubicle and Joonmyun was completely useless after he fainted at the mere thought of fire."

"It's okay." Baekhyun kisses his cheek, but not after pinching it hard. Kris winces and rolls him around the bed, Baekhyun falling completely in his arms with a muffled squeak. Luckily for them Baekhyun's roommate is out of Hogwarts for an international Quidditch game. They just stay like that, quietly, listening to each other's steady breathing.

"I think you should go to bed," Baekhyun finally says, noting the way Kris' eyelids are fluttering. Kris hums, gripping his waist. Baekhyun looks at him fondly, tracing his eyebrows with his fingertips, then down to the tip of nose and his lips. He feels lightheaded, like how Kris usually makes him feel.

"Happy Anniversary," Kris says before the clock strikes midnight. Kris finally falls into slumber, and Baekhyun doesn't mind.

After all, they've got the rest of their lives to celebrate.
