the actual part 3 (976 words)

"i swear to god, you used to have an acceptable fashion sense," lu han says as soon as kris opens the door to let him in.

"hello to you, too," kris sighs and looks down at his clothes--large, warm sweater and jeans. considering some of the other outfits he has walked out of his dorm in, kris has no idea what about this one offends lu han so much.

"i told you in that text to show up sexy," lu han grumbles, giving kris another once over. "this is dinner, where there will be lots of alcohol, muploads, and karaoke, not some study session at the library. take your clothes off."

"lu han, some of us would rather not see kris's bony ass," chanyeol drones, focus still on his computer as he clicks around youtube for new beenzino songs. lu han rolls his eyes as he catches the sweater kris throws to him and then chucks kris's sweater at chanyeol's head.

"excuse you, my mother bought that for me," kris sniffs as he takes the white button up lu han hands to him. as kris changes, lu han ruffles around kris's closet for pants.

"do you seriously not have any black skinny jeans?" lu han asks, voice muffled by a standard black suit. kris furrows his brow. does he seriously not have any black skinny jeans? that seems like something he would wear. lu han moves onto kris's drawers and still does not find any.

chanyeol sighs before getting up to unbutton his pants. behind him, lu han throws his hands over his eyes as he shrieks, "you can't just take off your clothes unannounced like that!" after he says that, however, lu han chooses to peek through his fingers to check out chanyeol's ass.

"here," chanyeol finally says, handing his pants to kris--black skinny jeans. lu han claps in delight.

"wait a second, these are mine," kris states gravely as he examines the jeans. chanyeol shrugs before sitting back down to enjoy his korean rap songs.

"chanyeol, why aren't you getting changed?" lu han suddenly remembers.

"oh, yeah. i'm in an a cappella group."

dinner at jack's seafood always devolves into alcohol-driven sessions of emotionally trying karaoke, especially with sm the a cappella (it's a pun off of something but kris has no idea of what; lu han was a bit inebriated when he tried to explain)--the premier korean a cappella group on campus. lu han is the only non-korean member, but his korean pronunciation is precise and hardly accented after spending all of high school covering dbsk songs on youtube. (this year, as sm the a cappella's president, lu han has been bothering byun baekhyun, the music director, for more dbsk in their repertoire. baekhyun decides instead to have the group sing in heaven by jyj and duet by homin just so lu han can cry his little db5k heart out.)

when kris, chanyeol, and lu han finally arrive, jongdae is already belting out "i will always love you" by whitney houston while giving joonmyun, who looks about ready to die, a lap dance. meanwhile, kyungsoo is silently eating some walnut shrimp while baekhyun tells a waiter to bring up more beer.

and then there is yixing, chewing on his lip in concentration as he makes an origami crane out of a paper napkin.

"you could have waited for the rest of us to show up," lu han teases jongdae before he all but pushes kris into the empty chair next to yixing. jongdae laughs as he gets off of joonmyun's lap, who visibly relaxes as he crosses his legs and shuffles his chair closer to the table. whitney houston is still blasting in the background. lu han does not bother with introductions because kris finds that he actually knows everyone in this room.

wow, maybe all the asians on campus do know each other.

dinner at jack's seafood always devolves into kris questioning his life decisions.

first off, kris does not enjoy seafood except for the walnut shrimp--most of which kyungsoo had cleared off before getting roped into some drinking game involving lobsters and trash with chanyeol and baekhyun. second of all, while kris knows everyone here, he does not know them with the exception of lu han and chanyeol.

which he guesses does not really matter because the whole point is for him to get to know yixing.

who has said about all of two words to him tonight while constantly bumping his arm against his at the dinner table.

kris has never felt so socially awkward in his life.

at some point of the night not far after kris had arrived, jongdae had started up his lap dances and lu han is screaming for more alcohol. then, the titular jack of jack's seafood joins sm the a cappella plus two, drinks with the group as if they had been best friends forever, and manages to get a drunk rendition of expectation by girls' day, featuring lu han, jongdae, baekhyun, and a confused joonmyun who has not even heard the song in his life.

a cappella kids are so weird.

"do you want to get out of here?" someone suddenly whispers in his ear. kris whips his head around to see yixing grinning with that insanely deep singular dimple, paper napkin cranes scattered around him. this close, kris can't even smell alcohol on yixing's breath, and now that kris thinks of it, he does not remember yixing actually drinking anything.

which means yixing wants to spend time with him on his own volition.

(yayyy~ you go kris coco, lu han/inner voice cheers, toasting to no one. go get your man.)

"sure," kris answers finally after taking a sip of his beer and regretting it immediately as it flows down the wrong pipe. "what did you have in mind?"
