When Sehun is seven, he finds a kitten on the street. The poor thing is a scrap of fur and some bones. It mewls weakly when he brings it some milk and purrs under his persistent petting. Soon the two are good friends, because other than Suho and visits from Kai, Sehun is always very lonely.
The cat becomes healthier as he feeds it, and Sehun wants nothing more than to hold her. She’s still antsy about being around him, but can tell that Sehun only means well. He baits her with scraps day by day and soon she’s in his lap purring.
Her fur is so soft and Sehun spends many nights cuddled up against her.
One day, the cat disappears and when Sehun finds her again she’s hurt. Her leg is twisted unnaturally and the way she hisses at him hurts his heart. He wants to hold her and tell her that everything will be okay, but she lashes out at him with her claws in pain.
Sehun is stunned.
The blood from his hand pools down into the ground creating swirls of shadows beneath him. Kai is suddenly beside him holding him back and covering his eyes.
The wind howls behind him as he screams out: “Mama please, she didn’t mean to!”
Kai holds him through the screeching and slashing of shadows. When he opens his eyes again, she’s splattered against the tree trunk, bloodied and completely unnatural now.
Sehun runs forward and peels what’s left of her off and into his arms.
