It's been five years since Lu Han embarked on his journey as a solo artist. After the disbandment of his previous group, his company held onto him and helped him return to his roots, debuting as a solo in China. 

As a gift to his fans for staying by his side for five years (and even before), Lu Han and his management decide to hold a nationwide concert tour, stopping at some of the biggest cities in the country. He's already graced his fans in Beijing, Hong Kong, Wuhan, and Chengdu. Next stop is a city that he holds close to his heart due to the sentimental value it holds: Changsha. 

When Lu Han arrives at the airport, he's greeted by a riot of fans, screaming his name and shoving gifts in his face. He bows politely having to refuse their presents. He sees fans still haven't tired of bringing around stools to step on for a better angle to capture him in a shot. The lines of fan girls and flashes of the cameras usually gives Lu Han a boost in energy and mood, but today he feels a little different. A little dull. 

When Lu Han steps outside, the air is hot and humid, as it always is during the summers. He's chauffeured to a tinted BMW, and on the way he catches sight of a curly haired little boy playing under the sun. Lu Han's mind flashes to warm memories of sweat and soccer and hair frizzing up due to the heat. He shakes his head to wash away these images, and is left with a headache. Lu Han tells his manager he isn't feeling too well, and to take him straight to the hotel. 


Lu Han rolls over feeling groggy and checks his phone for the time. 9PM. His concert isn't until tomorrow so he has extra time to relax. Lu Han's manager had asked him the day before why he insisted on leaving for Changsha a day earlier. Lu Han smiled sadly at his manager. He knows he has no right to want to get nearer, but he can still hope. 

Lu Han turns on the TV while he lays in bed. He needs background noise to keep the unwanted memories away. 

The 10 o'clock news comes on and the reporter is babbling about one of the youngest politicians finally getting engaged and wishing them happiness in the future. The camera then pans to the couple and Lu Han almost forgets to breath. 

"So Mr. Zhang, how is it now that you..."

The words trail off in Lu Han's mind and he sits upright in his bed. The man named Zhang Yixing is answering questions from the reporter, smiling with his one dimple shining so tauntingly. But Lu Han can't hear what he's saying. He doesn't want to hear it. 

Lu Han immediately shuts off the TV and gets dressed. He wears all black, with a cap and sunglasses. He needs to get to Yixing as soon as possible and it'd be easier if he goes unnoticed. Lu Han sneaks out of the hotel and by the time he's on the subway, it's almost midnight. 

Lu Han has travelled to many places across the world. His career allows him to do so, to experience different cultures and taste all the different delicacies. Having experienced a lot at his age, you'd think his memory would be a blur. And for the most part, it is. But if there's one thing he can remember, it's Yixing. Everything, Yixing. 

That's why the the subway ride to Yixing's place from his hotel is a breeze. He doesn't need to ask for directions nor second guess which route he's taking. It's been five years since he's last been in Changsha, and many things have changed, but the one thing that has remained constant is Lu Han's feelings for Yixing. His heart never fails to guide him to Yixing. 

When Lu Han arrives at Yixing's house, he takes a deep breath before ringing the door bell. As he's about to, he hears laughing from inside the house. Lu Han's hand falters at the bell and he decides to take a peek into the house, through the window on the right where light is shining from within. 

What Lu Han sees is something he would have never expected. Yixing, with someone else in his arms. Yixing, whispering I love you to someone else. And Yixing, belonging to someone else. Someone else. Not Lu Han. 

Lu Han stumbles backward, losing his balance and almost slipping. 

What could Lu Han expect? He chose his career over Yixing five years ago. What did Lu Han want? For Yixing to pine over him for five years? To not let go? To not be happy?

You don't deny happiness to the ones you love. It's a bitter pill take, but Lu Han knows its something he must swallow.

Lu Han places his hand on the window pane, tracing the outline of Yixing through the glass. He blows on the glass and traces I Love You on the condensation. 

Suddenly, Yixing whips his head up and his eyes meet Lu Han's. 

Lu Han ducks and runs away.
