"fuck!"

the sound of the glass shattering on the floor echoes throughout the room. jongin clenches his fist, face twisted into an expression of frustration, one he's been wearing ever since the day huang zitao decided to intrude into his life. he has done it again today.

baekhyun, jongin's best friend and right-hand man, looks at his friend with worry. he has just informed his boss that white swan had interrupted their organization's plan to close a deal with another major organization. the leader of white swan, huang zitao, has been a constant headache in jongin's life since last year, when they came to know that there is a new gang around aspiring to be jongin's black swan gang's rival. jongin did not give zitao much attention at first, thinking that his was just another wannabe gang wanting attention from black swan to gain notoriety out of it. but he soon came to realize that white swan is not here to play around.

jongin massages his temple. "how the hell did he know that we were going to close the deal today?" he looks up at baekhyun. "this was supposed to be a secret."

baekhyun sighs. "i told you, i have no idea. it was going well at the start. i met up with him at the place we told him to wait, just him and i. but out of nowhere zitao comes barging into the warehouse with luhan and the next thing i know, that bastard is handing over the contract to them!"

"this is getting out of hand, baekhyun. he seems to know every thing we do, every deal we are making, everything. don't tell me we have a betrayer working under me," jongin says. it is the worst nightmare a mafia boss like him would never want to be true. a snitch ruins everything and it only takes one for the undoing of his work of the past 5 years. he can never let that happen.

"i doubt it. our guys would die than betray you, jongin. you know that."

"call him. i want to speak to him," jongin leans back in his chair and closes his eyes.

he recalls the last time he had spoken to zitao. the latter had called him up in the middle of the night, "just saying hi", he had said. jongin does not know why he had continued talking with him instead of hanging up. maybe zitao has some kind of power over him. he had listened to him present his idea again. the one in which black swan joins white swan to operate under a new name, a new beginning for both groups. exo would be their name, he had said. jongin remembers flinching at that; there is no drama to that name, no sense of danger. no one would be scared of a gang called exo. but that is beside the point because jongin would never give in to that plan. jongin had ended that call telling zitao to go fuck himself.

the dial tone plays loud in the room; baekhyun has placed the call on speaker. both of them wait for zitao to pick it up.

"hello, jongin" the voice sounds amused, as if the person has anticipated the call.

"zitao," jongin hates even uttering his name. "what the fuck are you doing?"

zitao laughs. "oh my, someone sounds frustrated," he continues.

"zitao, stop fucking with me. this will not end well for you," jongin replies. it is an attempt to sound threatening; it is an attempt because for whatever reason zitao does not seem to be scared of jongin or the black swan.

"come on, jongin. would it kill you to be nice to me once in a while?" zitao says with a sigh. "oh, wait, you are mad about what happened today, aren't you?"

"how the fuck did you know about that deal?" jongin is nearly shouting. beside him, baekhyun gets more and more worried.

"it's a secret," zitao chuckles. "maybe you should fire your assistant, what's his name again...baekhyun? he seems to be doing a lousy job."

jongin glances at baekhyun. his friend shrugs uneasily.

"i want to meet you. tomorrow." jongin says.

"sure. did you miss me?"

jongin ends the call just as zitao starts laughing. he looks at baekhyun and nods. his friend would take care of the details.

he closes his eyes again once baekhyun leaves the room. jongin is sure zitao is going to bring up the proposal again tomorrow. and he is still going to reject it. he does not know why zitao keeps trying. working with someone else...that is not his style. the black swan works by himself. he is his own leader. it has always been like that since day one. but now, this guy is trying to shake everything up.

jongin is pretty sure he hates huang zitao.

zitao doesn't stop laughing even after the call is ended.

"he is really pissed off, luhan!" he exclaims, looking at his best friend and partner, luhan. his friend shakes his head at him with a smile.

"tao, you know he's going to reject you again, right?" he asks. "i don't know why you think you still have a chance."

"how can you say that, luhan?" zitao fakes a pout. "you know perseverance is everything. we will not be where are right now if not for our perseverance. per-se-ve-rance" he emphasizes.

luhan rolls his eyes. his friend can be so silly sometimes, despite being the boss of a group like the white swan. but he knows more than anyone else that zitao can get the job done when he wants to. he might look like he is amusing you one second but he would not hesitate to blast a hole through your head the next.

"yeah, well, i am starting to think perseverance doesn't work with someone like kim jongin. that guy is not budging," luhan replies.

"hmph, i don't think so. i always get what i want," zitao says. "you know that," he adds, looking at luhan with a smirk. luhan sighs because he knows that is true. damn zitao and his charm.

"we just have to keep that baekhyun guy close to us, make sure he continues to tell us everything," zitao says. he eyes his friend with a knowing look and continues, "your dick is that good, huh."

luhan flushes. zitao laughs, it is always fun watching his friend get shy when it comes to bedroom talk. zitao doesn't understand. luhan can get any guy or girl he wants; he is good-looking and he knows it. but for some reason, he never boasts about it or makes any attempt to have sex with one person one night. it's just sex, he would say. i want something more.zitao finds it cute that his friend is a hopeless romantic. it is easy to be charmed by his boyish looks and innocent face but only zitao knows the kind of things luhan is capable of doing.

luhan's phone rings. he looks at the screen and says, "speaking of baekhyun..." before answering the call.

"what the fuck luhan?!"

luhan flinches. baekhyun sounds really mad.

"what's wrong?" he feigns innocence.

"what is wrong is that your friend zitao nearly got me killed! seriously?! the last thing we need right now is for jongin to suspect me so zitao better not be going around telling him to fire me," baekhyun replies in a hushed voice. luhan can just imagine him looking around him as he speaks, paranoia a close friend.

"oh my god, he did that?" luhan pretends to be outraged. he catches zitao about to laugh and signals to him to be quiet. "i'm sorry, dear. i would let him know that was wrong."

"ok," baekhyun lets out a sigh. "i just - i'm dead if jongin finds out. we cannot let that happen." baekhyun sounds tired. luhan almost feels bad.

"don't worry about it. it will not happen again," luhan tries to comfort him. "my place later?" he offers.

"sure, babe." it seems to do the trick. baekhyun sounds a bit happier.

"alright, i'd talk to you later."

luhan hangs up and finds zitao staring at him.

"you are pretty good at this," he begins. "are you sure you are not really in love with this guy?"

"of course not," luhan is quick to reply. "it's just a job to me."

"good," zitao says in a serious tone. "i don't want you to get hurt."

"i won't," luhan smiles. "trust me." zitao believes him. always will.

"now then, how did the kris situation go? is that fucker still alive?"
