do i believe capitol asked sm for a group and offered to fund them? yes, considering that's what's happening. do i believe this is a stepping stone for nct to advance eventually? sure. considering sm is already trying to push them into the market, it'd be strange of them not to. but that doesn't negate the fact that this could help give baekhyun and kai more opportunities to grow bigger in name too, whether it's as exo or solo. there will be promotions in the us, and they will not be in the back going 'nct is awesome!' while being ignored. they're going to talk about themselves, exo, baekhyun's solo, and hopefully kai's is in the works, among the superm activities. that said, considering they are going to go ahead with an nct usa unit in the future, that just means we'll get baekhyun and kai back. would i rather have exo being the group promoted? yes, but we're down 2 (technically 3) members. this is not the ideal time for them as a group. besides, you never know what might happen. if we actually supported baekhyun and kai 100% capitol could see the power of exol and tell sm they want to continue with exo. there could be so many good things to come from this opportunity, but exol are denying not just baekhyun and kai the opportunity to grow, but themselves

lastly, taeyong has only one writing credit, which makes sense considering he's written a bunch of nct songs in comparison to taekaibaek who haven't. not to mention while this was ongoing baekhyun released his own album and both him and kai were rehearsing for exploration, so i don't see the big deal in them not having any credits. so far taemin is being pushed as the center too, if we look at the picture teasers. baekhyun and kai both seem excited and willing to be a part of this, so i'm going to support them

i'm supporting them too, i already preordered my albums. but lbr if they're using this to gauge interest towards exo outside of the asian market that's an insult to everything eris have done so far to get their attention, it's not as if their past albums haven't charted high on itunes or they haven't been charting on billboard's charts in some capacity since cmb. fans have already done so much to get sm's attention, and maybe this might benefit kaibaek in gaining some new fans but no one is going to pay attention to this group except people that already like kpop/sm
