possibly a controversial opinion but idt superm is a bad thing for him. i really think it exposed him to a whole new generation of kpop fans. his un village yt views weren't very good but candy has the highest views in 24 hrs for sm this year. a lot more people are checking for him

i think it gave him like a 5% boost. it's not like it helped him chart on melon and most of his sales came from his cfans and kfans, i'll take any new fans or views but imo the kind of fans he gained from superm just tweet about him and call it a day

i think you're well meaning so i don't want to come off aggressive but saying he needed the exposure when he's in one of the biggest kpop groups of all time is.... fans are against the idea of superm in the first place because exo/his solo career are neglected by sm. that's like rubbing salt in the wounds lol
