Zitao was always fond of stars. Regardless of where he went, close to home or far away, they were there to comfort him, to show him the way. And although he revered them, deep down he felt pity. Something that could shine so brightly had to carry a burden. The stars were filled with false hopes and unfilled dreams that weighed them down day by day, causing the stars to come crashing to the ground when they couldn't bare it anymore.

Here, in the hunger games arena, that took on an deeper meaning. One he wished he never had to experience. Instead of being the protective blanket that he was used to, they became the back drop to further despair, unavoidable, unignorable; it wasn't just the stars dying anymore, but the ones that wished.

He frowned as the names flashed up over head, a picture of a tribute projected onto the sky for one last appearance in the games, one last smile for their family and district. They were dead, fallen, and just like the stars, their hopes had died with them.

He wanted to close his eyes, block the sight from his memory but he knew that he couldn't. Not if he wanted to survive. Despite the sadness and pity that filled his insides, he knew that their deaths meant one more day for him and one less life he had to take.

He marked down the names of the deceased, their initials and districts scribbled into the dirt at his feet. When the final tribute's name was announced, he paused, eyes scanning over the name written in the stars once more.

His breath caught in his throat and he collapsed onto his knees, all the fight taken out of him with three simple words; Oh Sehun, dead.
