and i just like how touchy they can get and how for all of their light bantering, they seem really comfortable with each other? chen just likes to amuse himself and xiumin will play along with him even if sometimes he takes it upon himself to act in the place of chen's missing brain-mouth filter and i just. like them so much /sob
and what i'd like to see from fic... i guess that comradeship between them? where things are pretty nice and easy and they find comfort in each other, and the type of conflict depicted isn't "omg, i hate this guy but i want to fuck him" or some tragic love affair but rather something that would focus on their individual growth? and how that individual growth affects the growth of their relationship and vice versa /o\

we're practically on the same page lol, i love the comradeship as you say and how comfortable they are with each other, and the comfort yesssss. i like to think about them when they room together in hotels, and how they naturally find each other when they feel lost bc of the language barrier.
i wish we knew more about both of them but particularly about xiumin bc his voice or mental process is hard to pin down in a fic. i'm so intrigued by his serious(?) side, or the side of him that keeps people in check. maybe his tidiness is a reflection of this side of him, but at the same time, i see him as so playful and good-natured in general.
ugh, yes i just love the idea of them leaning on each other at times, like it's not terrible in china, but it's nice to have someone going through the same thing as you and being a constant reminder that you're not really alone and every time they lean on each other at a show, that's what i get drawn into ;;
idk if you remember that one bts from a magazine or an interview, but how the staff member mentioned xiumin and how the others seemed to turn to him during the photoshoot combined with how xiumin talked about how on a normal day for m, he kinda just sits back and watches everyone do things really gives me oldest-hyung feelings ;; not necessarily proactive and leading, but i think he kinda keeps an eye on the others while still managing to be pretty laidback about it all. maybe with a hint of long-suffering as a joke, although given luchen's antics i don't blame him lol and then he banters with chen, plays around with lu han, pretends to hit kris (to which kris almost flinches sometimes, which is interesting?!), and cuddles with tao and it's all very affectionate and playful and i guess it's good that he seems open with them even if he's not completely opening himself up for china orz i wish we could see more of that too though ;;
i do think he's such a shadow leader and i love him for it ♥ but his playfulness makes me forget that he's everybody's hyung and so he does have a hold on them. the fact that kris is the nominal and public leader also makes easier for me to forget lol. but my personal headcanon is that xiumin has an instinctual understanding of people's needs so he caters to or humors everybody subtly so everybody respects him back.
it really would be interesting if that were the case, especially given how hierarchical things can be over there. i just love the image of chen, tao, and even kris looking over at him sometimes for even the tiniest bit of direction lol he does seem to have a pretty unassuming air (which... probably isn't working out for him /o\) but i think in a person rather than an idol, that's not a bad thing? like, he puts up with all of lu han's and the fandom's endless baozi jokes, that has to count as humoring, right? lol but yeah, just that watchful, obliging big brother feeling from him ;;
