afraid to start a new thread lest anons get angry but does anyone know if the author of step and 48 hours is chinese (born in china)?

i was stalking the original threads where she'd posted the installments and someone had commented in chinese under the first chapter, "this reads like it was translated from english," so that made me curious.

i think she is, it's just that while no one knows much about her, we do know that she's currently living overseas. so it's not that surprising to hear that it was translated from english, if she's more comfortable writing in english first.

man, i wish i could write in chinese like her ;;

chinese readers of her fic who also go through tumblr linked her to it and she replied back with something like, "yes, i've read it. very good translation!" T___T

only the prologue has been translated well so far :( one version by oh-luhans and the other by our resident anon translator fenshen :) lukais has up to chap 2, but i wouldn't recommend reading her version lol ;; and no worries, feel free to ask qs! :D

da but i'd find it hilarious if her fics really were written in english first because then it'd be english > chinese > english and i wonder how much of a difference there would be between her draft and the translations lmao

idk i don't think so. a lot of it is very distinctly in a more chinese style.

da true! there are a lot of idioms and chinese sayings and metaphors that have no equivalent in english. it's just really interesting to think she writes first in english though, lol.

cry mb she jots down rough outlines in english idk. i sometimes sketch paragraphs in chinese here and there b4 sitting down to write the whole fic but yeah. dialogue sentence structure etc is distinctly chinese imo
