“The majority of those who died today were children, beautiful little kids between the ages of 5 and 10 years old,” he said. .

After pausing to compose himself for 12 long seconds, Mr. Obama went on, “They had their entire lives ahead of them: birthdays, graduations, weddings, kids of their own.”

stabs my heart

i wonder how romney would have reacted if he were elected instead of obamar

(Anonymous) 2012-12-15 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
"less children, less people to support. good for the republicans."

(Anonymous) 2012-12-15 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
are you kidding me

(Anonymous) 2012-12-15 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
da but yes, anon, i would say that is indeed a joke. an ill-timed one but a joke indeed.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-15 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
it's not just ill-timed, anon. for someone to assume that about someone, especially concerning something so tragic - that's terrible :(

(Anonymous) 2012-12-15 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
it's clearly a hyperbole tho

(Anonymous) 2012-12-15 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
of course, but this whole thing is sad enough and idk it's unnecessary

(Anonymous) 2012-12-15 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
satire, sarcasm, let anon be.

she's not being serious. it's ill timed, but sarcasm is how some people deal with things.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-15 01:07 am (UTC)(link)

(Anonymous) 2012-12-15 01:07 am (UTC)(link)

(Anonymous) 2012-12-15 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
he probably would have blamed it on single mothers ofc

(Anonymous) 2012-12-15 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
ot but i went to the funeral of the mother of a high school freshman a while back and one of the things the preacher said was "she'll never help you get ready for prom or see you in your wedding dress" and i was like IS THIS THE TIME? REALLY?????

(Anonymous) 2012-12-15 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
some people want to lighten up the mood at least?

(Anonymous) 2012-12-15 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
no it didn't lighten up the mood at all, it just made us all incredibly sad. lightening up the mood is like "they're in a better place~" not "well you don't have a mom anymore"

(Anonymous) 2012-12-15 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
i hate the phrase 'they're in a better place'

i get that it's trying to lighten up the mood, but way to invalidate someone's sense of grief.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-15 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
i hate it too but this was a super religious funeral so i would've preferred to hear it over a list of things that this girl will never get to do with her mom. (to be fair her mom was suffering from terminal cancer so really, in this case she was in a better place)
