My Senior Fellow Apprentice Is a Super Star

One member of the hottest K-pop group EXO-M is “Made in Qingdao”.

Our journalist will represent you the gossip of this member’s school life.

From: Qingdao Evening Paper

Time: Oct. 15th, 2012

Translated by:小丫@小光(EXO-E.T.TEAM)

One photo album named “One student of No.47 Middle School debuted in Korea” is now shared quickly on the social website “Renren”. Zitao, Huang, one member of the highly popular K-pop group, was the protagonist of this album. “Qingdao”, “No.47 Middle School”, and “K-pop Group” became his key words of hot search on the Internet.

Seen from this old photo taken when he was entering the middle school, he had the style of a superstar already.

The new group EXO has exceeded their predecessors such as Super Junior, BigBang in the latest popularity list of idols and won the hottest group in Korea. Someone found that one member of the idol group turned out to be “made in Qingdao”. Fans said, the name of this member is Zitao, Huang who graduated from No.47 Middle School in Qingdao. So our journalists from No.47 Middle School interviewed the teachers in the school. Let’s see what we have now!

“The Superstar is just by my side!”

“In my impression, Tao is very cheerful and lively. He is active in our class and school’s activities. He performed Kung-fu usually. So wonderful! So dashing! ” One net friend, who acclaimed that he was Tao’s classmate, said on the website “Renren”. The members of EXO are now popular in China and Korea and they are walking on the same road of Geng, Han – “export turns sale in domestic market”. Like most net friends who share this album, he also feels that it’s so unbelievable that this superstar was just around him before. And several users also left messages like: “Actually, when I was studying in No. 47 Middle School, I thought he was handsome and sunny! Now he becomes a superstar. Thinking that I was his classmate, I feel very delighted!”

The tremendous popularity of idol and the sharing function of this social website make this photo album hot on the Internet. These local users share this album one by one, their endless curiosity in the gossips let Tao become more and more local. According to our investigation, Tao is one of the graduates of 2008 in No. 47 Middle School. He got casting from SM in one talent show after years of hard training and practice. Eventually, he became one trainee of the S.M. Entertainment. In 2012, he made the official debut with other members of EXO.

The superstar was a shy boy before.

“As a student of No.47 Middle School, I heard from the music teacher before, that there was a senior schoolmate who was shy and introvert, but good at singing. The music teacher said, he could still remember the moment when Tao showed his talent on music, and Tao got his attention at once. He loves music very much.” Before digging out Tao’s school life, one of our journalist in No.47 Middle School said that she felt Tao’s dazzling, when she first saw Tao showing in EXO-M, and she never connected Tao with the “shy boy” until she browsed the forum of the school. It turns out that the shy boy of the teacher’s mouth is the “peacock brother” called by the MC in the variety show Happy Camp.

As the teachers explained, Tao was an introvert at the beginning, but he showed his talent at the mini concert held in school and became popular on the campus. Teachers encouraged him to move forward on music and he found the direction of self-development when he was singing. Besides, he was also good at Kung-fu. In the headmaster’s eyes, Tao always had his own idea and he would come to the headmaster to express his own idea and standpoint.

Gossiping – Idol’s idol is Jay, Chou

“He is not perfect, but he is real; he is not mature but he is sincere. Maybe you love him on the shining stage more, but I feel that the real one is more precious. Now that he has been recognized by the public, please have trust in his ability! Tao, fighting!” On the website of Weibo, in the Qzone, or even on Tianya which is the biggest forum in China, words like this were ubiquitous. People tweeted continually:

One net friend disclosed that she surprisedly found that her dance teacher Yezi was Tao’s teacher before. As a big fan of Tao, she would definitely not give up such a good chance to reveal Tao’s youth story. She relayed the scene when the teacher Yezi saw Tao for the first time. “when he opened the door, I felt he was in high spirit and shining. He was very tall and handsome, with big eyes with double eyelids, small face, and a fashionable hairstyle. In a word: eye-catching!” Through the gossips from school and the Internet, we find that Tao has many hobbies: singing, dancing, basketball, photographing, Kung-fu and so on. “But he loves Kung-fu and Guitar most,” Yezi said, “he was quiet while having a rest, and he often played guitar by the window.” Idol Tao also has a lot of idols: Jay Chou, Leehom Wang, Jason Zhang, Jackie Chan, Mchotdog, Kobe Bryant, Shawn Carter and KRIS…… In the eyes of his old friends, Tao is always a boy with dream. No matter how hard the reality is, he will fight for his dream.
