The moved out of sync but the chaos of it all was what they craved. Her movements were languid and gentle, while his were swift and sharp. The joining of their elements teased their senses and violently ripped moans out of their chests as they become putty in the hands of ecstasy.
He would stare at her with a fire burning behind the fading clouds of lust in his eyes as she laid on her side and unwillingly allowed herself to be taken out of the dream she ventured into once she closed her eyes. When her eyes fluttered open, the morning greeting her with open arms, she immediately turned her head to where his body should have lied. All that greeted her was a familiar, unoccupied space.
There was a flickering light of hope in the very depths of her mind; that maybe he might give up everything else and stay. Forget rivalry and their royal duties and just stay. But she knew even she wouldn't be able to do that for him. Loyalty and their nations first, always before themselves.
As her fingers traced over the burning patch on her neck, she concluded that quiet dreams during the darkest of nights and subtle reminders were better than not having him at all.
