dystopian/dark genres:
psycho-pass, it's a new-ish anime (only came out last year)
shingeki no kyojin/attack of the titan (can be a bit gory though/slow-paced, and the manga is unfinished so)

idk which animes you've seen but some old ones:
if you're more into comedy then gintama is always good (but it's also very long and has a lot of 'inside' jokes)

and classics like code geass and fullmetal alchemist:brotherhood (make sure you watch brotherhood bc it's more faithful to the manga) are personal favourites

i know how you feel about it changing your life because it holds a special place in my heart. i remember being at the edge of my seat during every episode, it's just so fun to watch and i loved seeing everyone's reactions.
