i think it was his vulnerability? at first and then like you said, the whole idol-adoration to a creepy as fuck level. they are probably even trained to unconsciously attract people? also i think it was a bit, at least for jongin, that both of them were lonely so he was also attracted to that in some way?

but the over the top attraction was probably because of how their society was, you've grown up seeing it as the most normal thing so it's easy to fall into the same pattern
