(Anonymous) 2014-07-08 10:53 am (UTC)(link)One day Lu Han washed up on the sandy shores outside of the city. He wasn’t quite sure what happened. One moment he was chasing the fishes with his friends, next thing he knew he saw the biggest wave of his life… and now here he was.
Word travelled quick in the small town and soon enough it was reported that an exotic “land” fish had turned up on the outskirts of town. A fish that not only resembled a human but was extraordinarily beautiful as well.
Upon hearing of the land fish’s beauty Marquis Joonmyeon immediately requested that the fish be brought to the largest temple in the imperial court.
“Hurry and bring him to the temple! We must present our guest with a warm welcome.” Marquis Joonmyeon called out commands one after another. “Get our highest trained musicians to the temple. Bring out our finest wine! You said Lu Han is a sea creature? Prepare the finest seafood we have!”
Marquis Joonmyeon had always be noted as a kind man who would bend over backwards to help people. However everyone present at the feast later that evening was in agreement that Marquis Joonmyeon’s behaviour to Lu Han that evening was kind of keen and off putting.
“This is our kingdom’s finest music,” Marquis Joonmyeon said facing Lu Han who gingerly picked at his food. “Do you like it?”
“This is our kingdom’s best wine, drink up!”
“This is our kingdom’s best seafood all for you! Don’t be shy!”
After three days of consuming hardly anything at the nightly temple feasts, Lu Han called over the servant tending to him. In actuality just the court gardener who also took care of the pond that Lu Han was staying in, a tall boy named Chanyeol.
Chanyeol jumped in shock and looked over to the pond to see Lu Han waving. During the land fish’s stay he had scarcely uttered a word and most of the court had taken him to be partially mute.
“Your name is Chanyeol right,” Lu Han asked quietly as Chanyeol came close to the pond. “Could I asked you a favour?”
Chanyeol nodded.
“Could you please bring me back to the ocean?” Lu Han blushed and bowed apologetically. “I’m incredibly flattered by the celebration your marquis has thrown for me but the truth of the matter is I don’t really like seafood.” Lu Han was mumbling now, “or wine and the music isn’t quite what I’m into.”
A resounding crash came from the garden gates and the two by the pond looked over to see the marquis frantically gathering a bouquet and placing pieces of broken glass to the side.
Lu Han contemplated submerging himself in the pond until they all went away but the kicked puppy look on the marquis’s face made him think twice.
“You were unhappy?”
“Oh.” Lu Han frowned, the hurt look on Joonmyeon’s face wouldn’t do. “I have nothing against you… land dwellers. But I think maybe we should at least get to know each other first?” Lu Han looked up to Joonmyeon hopefully.
Slowly, as realisation dawned on the marquis a small smile grew on his face. “I can live with that.”
Gaining confidence he handed what remained of the bouquet to Lu Han. “Will you accept these? Or are flowers another thing you don’t really like?” Joonmyeon added with a teasing smile.
Lu Han swam over to a nearby lotus and attempted to arrange the flowers on the lotus leaves so that they didn’t sink into the pond. “Nah I like flowers.”
