also mandarin is one of the hardest languages to learn. it's not like they're pulling a dbsk in japan and immersing themselves and living in china either, so mandarin isn't a necessity.

+1 also it's a lot harder to learn languages when you're not a kid/immersed in it, and some people have a better ear for languages than others

tbf, they haven't been staying in china much since mama and i doubt they've been having extra lessons compared to other members. it would look better if they tried more but it's totally unsurprising that their mandarin still sucks
