The flying villian is slinging handfuls of defecation at anything and anyone he can see, and it’s causing symptoms ranging from nausea to lead poisoning to the civilians on the ground. Minseok hadn’t realised he was dealing with someone with superpowers, but he’s on it. His palms are already magnetizing themselves to draw all the water vapour they can find in the surrounding air, building a big enough reserve so he can throw his spiked hail at the guy, who doesn’t seem to have noticed him yet. It’s one of his favourite combat strategies, though he must say he hasn’t quite figured how to turn the power off entirely yet and god, sweaty palms and dripping foreheads aren’t really a walk in the park to deal with. In any case, he’s ready.
Running round the corner to get a good shot, Minseok aims and the first of the hail slams into the guy’s side, knocking him off-guard so he falls the several feet to land hard on the ground. Perfect. Minseok sends several more of those his way, pockmarking his skin with ugly red wounds, and the guy’s hand is raised over his face to shield himself like a loser. Minseok really has no time for those - his coffee’s waiting.
This one is pretty easy, really. Minseok sends one spiked iceball at the guy’s face, then screeches it to a halt just before it makes impact and rearranges it into an icicle to bat the guy over the head. The morph of the villian’s expression from relief to tight fear pulls a little satisfaction out of Minseok, especially when he looks over to see some civilians in serious need of medical attention. There are some other guys flying around him, but they seem to be helping the civilians. Time to end it.
So he stands back, sends a powerful jet at the guy that freezes upon contact with skin, and has him encased in a coffin of ice so solid the villian’s face is blurry (his trick: use only water distilled from the clouds). Done. Minseok leaves him some snowflakes on the top of the huge ice block as a parting gift.
When he looks up, he sees one guy with lightning bolts coming out of his hands defibrillating an unconscious civilian from what looks like poisoning, another guy with directing nauseous civilians into ambulances with his booming voice and this last guy with literal wings - are those an angel’s? - flitting from fallen civilian to civilian, breathing what seems like life into them. The civilians rouse as if they’d just been asleep. Wow. There are a lot of other people fighting the good fight with Minseok; perhaps he’d know better if he kept up with the superpower scene, but he’s never really been one for the spotlight. Minseok’s happy to help in his own way quietly.
There’s a tap on Minseok’s shoulder as he rounds the corner - it’s Loud Guy. “There you are!” He says it like he’s Minseok’s best bud and it alarms Minseok slightly.
“Hi?” Minseok takes a tiny step back. “Do we know each other?”
“Nope,” Loud Guy grins very widely and suddenly he’s joined by Hand Defibrillator Guy who also grins widely. “But we should. I’m Chanyeol!”
“I’m Jongdae,” Hand Defibrillator Guy adds. “And that guy, the one with the angel wings, he’s Yixing. We’re the EXO Superhero Union!”
Minseok’s heard of them on the news - it’d be difficult to have not heard of them with how much their stuff is featured. They’re the biggest, bestest guys yet, trawling the country to put the bad guys behind bars and help regular people with whatever. “Nice to meet you.”
“We’d like to recruit you!” The offer comes like they aren’t standing in the middle of a street amidst piles of defecation Shitstain had left behind, wailing emergency sirens and still nauseous civilians. “We’ve heard a lot about you.”
“You have?” Minseok asks as the angel winged guy - Yixing comes up next to Jongdae. Triplet grins become kind of scary when it’s superheroes that wear them, for some reason. Minseok’s a little nervous.
“Of course!” Jongdae says as he grabs Minseok’s hand to shake. “I’m a fan, really. Your battle with the dragon guy last week - what, Kris? - was really cool, glad you took care of him while we fought those mutant wolves. And the swan sculpture you left at the end - fine art, sir.”
“I’m - flattered…?” Minseok manages. He is, and it feels nice to have someone else appreciate his work once in a while.
“Please join us!” Yixing seems very nice, even bowing as he takes Minseok’s hand from Jongdae’s. “We haven’t been a trio for a long time, but you’d be great for our team! We know you already do pretty much the same thing as us. Plus Chanyeol leaves some, uh, fiery damage after all his battles that you could really help to defuse…”
Chanyeol looks pretty sheepish, even though he’s pumping Minseok’s arm up and down in some kind of handshake. “Yeah,” Chanyeol says enthusiastically. “You’ll get a cool codename and a room in our swanky dorms too!”
Jongdae is perhaps slightly more serious, but just as enthusiastic. “Truth be told, the baddies around here are getting worse, so we really need another stronghouse on our side. Like you!”
Maybe Minseok’s flattered to the point of deliriousness, or maybe he really, really wants to get back to his coffee and these people don’t look like they’ll let him go any time soon. “My own room?”
