it's true though queer people standing up for themselves is the only way anything's ever going to change and yes it's hard but i don't see where anon said that every queer person must come out
it isn't straight peoples responsibility to do shit for us they never have and never will we can't just wait around in hiding forever until the straight world can tolerate our existence we have to force them to whether they like it or not it's our responsibility to ourselves but hey that's just my opinion /csb
i'm not talking about those people obviously if ur life/livelihood is in danger it's different if our queer forefathers and mothers never took the risks they took we wouldn't be where we are today, they did it for us, future generations. they risked their safety in the face of violence, arrest and institutionalization so that we wouldn't have to live like they did again, not saying everyone has to but we should applaud and honor those that do because they're the real heroes there are also a lot of queers living comfortable/privileged lives who have little to nothing to lose and they're not doing the rest of us any favors by remaining closeted /tl;dr
and it's happening now in countries where homosexuality is still illegal and many have died fighting (like david kato in uganda) all we can do is try to do everything in our power to make sure that they didn't die in vain
