i think the most sad/frustrating thing about when things like this happen are fan reactions. because all they do is use it as some sort of points as to whose fave is the most "woke" or who is "problematic. they don't even care about educating the idol in question. our issues are seen as something that others can use in fanwars and nothing more

at least this is being brought up and pointed out now, the whole pissing contest is tired

(Anonymous) 2018-04-15 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah. but it still doesn't seem like it'll change much. or maybe that's just my own opinion because i'm tired of it

(Anonymous) 2018-04-15 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah same and it’s too much mixed up in the fandom culture for real change to even start. i get little comfort from knowing there’s people that see through it

(Anonymous) 2018-04-15 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
ofc why do you think armies are watching exo vapps in the first place. it's all about bringing hate and elevating your favs

(Anonymous) 2018-04-15 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah. they're such hypocrites and can't even talk esp when their faves use hiphop and black culture (and mental illness) as a concept. but ofc they'll say they apologized already and use that one apology from long ago that didn't specify a thing as proof. they just want to make id look better even tho they've fucked up since then

(Anonymous) 2018-04-15 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
da there's a difference between using hiphop as a concept and being outright demeaning of black people

(Anonymous) 2018-04-15 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
da they've done both (besides hip hop they've used the n-word and tbh, i found ahl incredibly anti-black/near minstrel like it killed what interest i could have had in them) but i've read the apologies and fwiw i think they aren't as vague as anons say they are

(Anonymous) 2018-04-15 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
for me, personally, they've done both. because if they truly cared about the culture as they claimed they do, i wouldn't feel like they use us and our culture as props again and again

(Anonymous) 2018-04-15 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
da oh they’ve done both tho

(Anonymous) 2018-04-15 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
anon's comment was equating using hiphop as a concept with demeaning black people, which i don't agree with

(Anonymous) 2018-04-15 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
you don’t have to agree but the way they used it as a full concept/spectacle is demeaning to me. you can argue they’ve grown and learned to respect hip hop but don’t pretend that never happened

(Anonymous) 2018-04-15 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
where did i pretend it didn't happen? stop putting words in my mouth to try to make your position look better

(Anonymous) 2018-04-15 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
i don’t have to make my position look like anything, i said my piece

(Anonymous) 2018-04-15 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
it was a poor piece, js

(Anonymous) 2018-04-15 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
i hate how fandom has made social justice currency

(Anonymous) 2018-04-15 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
me too. tho i do feel like overall i-exols seem to care about the issue and that's sorta comforting

(Anonymous) 2018-04-15 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
i’m so... tired. ifans are almost powerless to educate them and it just goes back and forth

(Anonymous) 2018-04-15 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
me too anon. and i know it's not going to blow up in korea because it's not even an issue there just like the suho thing. it sadly has to be the kfans that see an issue with it
