ugh i hate that i actually get bothered by this but

i feel like i would be less annoyed if there weren't so many a*mys being like ooohhhh our group is better bc we do ~deep concepts that are ~meaningful and ~socially conscious not like dumb exo with their cats and superpowers and and here's their bias group doing a song about a superhero with a lighthearted, colorful concept and suddenly it's not stupid? miss me with that turnaround hypocrisy garbage

like. ~deep ~meaningful ~socially conscious music is just music and it has as much intrinsic value as fun bubblegum pop but a*mys are always trying to pretend they're so much better than every other kpop fandom because of the group they stan when in reality listening to fake love isn't actually better than listening to kokobop and their group also makes regular kpop in between pretending to care about martin luther king and trying to pull an explanation for why "my romantic relationship sucked" is ACTUALLY ACTIVISM out of thin air

also got7's just right is lowkey a better song about loving yourself than 21cg, because just right is actually fun to listen to. plus it came out first

dda ia anon i'm not sure if it's always been that way but lately i've been seeing id stans trying to relate back EVERYTHING id do to any sort of social activism or "wokeness" without realizing that they're truly reaching for the stars :x why are they constantly so hellbent on hyping their favs for supposedly being so socially conscious and progressive idgi not everything has to be deep!!!!!!!! like just have some fun for once

and i just read the lyrics for 21cg (assuming i got the title right) and lmao it's the same old "if someone bothers you tell them you're mine" bs... not to take any sides lmaoaoao but got7's just right is far superior imo (although as someone who wears glasses i side-eyed them a little for having that girl take off her glasses for her ~transformation :<)

ayrt i know! and maybe if id made music that actually struck me as socially conscious anymore it would be different but? maybe it was their original concept but they stopped making music about actual issues like the ones in the korean education system a long time ago. people like to bring up gogo but none of the members have a writing credit on that.

and then id stans will put down other kpop acts while disregarding that, to give a few examples, gangnam style is social commentary, twice's likey satirizes social media obsession, and iu talks about how she was sexualized and objectified in her music, which she writes herself. it's not hard to say "hey i like my bias group best" and stop there without putting down other kpop groups or insisting that ur bias group is ABOVE KPOP like kpop doesn't encompass all kinds of genres and performers. and i get that all stans do this to an extent but it is SO BAD with a*mys like?? STOP

the only good thing to come out of any of the garbage they spew on twt was that someone referred to osh as "stripper maknae" and i spent a good few minutes laughing about it.

also... you're completely right about the glasses i'm TIRED of pop media saying glasses aren't cute! there's plenty of cute kinds of glasses! open ur eyes, fools
