One night he nearly gets slashed in half by some kid with a longsword, who leaps off the ledge of a thirty-story building to attack him from behind. Kris dodges and the kid goes somersaulting onto the roof of the next building, his feet quickly grabbing purchase. He gets up without a scratch. Kris stares. So the kid can't fly, but he can see Kris when Kris doesn't want to be seen. That's enough to make Kris ask, "Who are you?"

The kid raises his sword and brings it down in one fluid swing. One of Kris' feathers floats down in front of him, cleaved cleanly in half. Kris watches it see-saw down to the honking, sweating city below until it blinks out of sight.

Kris amends, "Okay, what are you?"

The kid smirks. His eyes gleam under the moonlight, like a cat, and something in the curl of his lips screams that he's having the time of his life. "I'm just a guy with a job to do," he grins, and raises his sword again.

tyvm anon :) not sure i'll expand... i wrote the drabble just to make the art a little more interesting ;; have not thought further about it haha
