i don't think i'll write that long fics but just in case, could a kind anon please explain again how threading, the 40 points cap and the 10 min rule are interrelated?

e.g. if a 5k fic is threaded, it will only get 40 pts. but all parts can be posted one immediately after the other if they're in the same thread, right? if they're in different posts, like "part 1" and "part 2", or post one and then posting the other later with "continuation of xx", the 10 min rule has to be observed, right? but will it still be capped at 40 pts since technically it's one fic?

what advice does anyone have on writing? i haven't written in so long, and everything is coming out painfully stilted

read a lot of different styles when you're not writing. use a prompt generator to do some warm-ups. set a timer and force yourself to write for five minutes straight without stopping or deleting anything.

i also like the exercise where you write a scene, then go back and you have to write it differently -- different perspective, different setting, different objective, something has to be different, and do that a bunch of times and then go back to see which one you like.
