part of the reason i got into kpop was because it was so separate and i could turn to it during hard times for a distraction. it's really hard having it as my source of pain. usually i'd turn to oppars vids and pics but rn all i can think about is the pain they must be in

jonghyun had a great relationship with his mom and sister. he had lots of friends and fans and colleagues who love him. he talked about his issues publicly and had his music as his outlet. he helped other people who are also suffering. he confided to friends and he went to the doctor. it just seems like he did everything "right" yet his pain was still too much. i just feel so hopeless right now. please tell me anons, what more could have he done? what more could have his loved ones done to help? why did this happen? i've been battling depression for years and i know the feeling of pain and emptiness so well but suicide is hard to fathom. will it eventually get to me too? what can i even do to help people with those same thoughts?

there's no simple answer i don't think. i wish he had a doctor that understood him and maybe got put on mediation. his friend said that all her support just delayed the inevitable... every case is individual. i think the best you can do is be open and find professionals that you trust. be supportive and kind to all around you

you know what makes me sad? if Jonghyun wasn't from shinee if he was an idol less popular and that was the only thing different, but if he was still kind and selfless and has done all the things he has and all the issues he has talked abt and brought to light, the kmedia wouldnt be talking abt all of this and bringing to light how depression is serious etc. the fandom would still mourn but not to this scale. even in his passing, Jonghyun is still contributing and doing so much, the news is discussing mental health and how it is important. it has taken Jonghyun's death to get the country talking about something so many has dismissed so easily in the past and this is all possible because of SHINee's Kim Jonghyun. he has achieved so much and helped so many but he still felt like he wasnt enough and im so so sad

he's such a beautiful person inside and out. he's done so much for strangers, from bringing happiness through his music to giving people a voice on issues that a lot of people in society try to ignore. he's really made an impact by just being who he is. it makes me so sad to think he couldn't recognize how amazing he is and was suffering so much on his own.

oh man i just found out about jonghyun this morning from my friend's fb post oh man i just...wow....

what is this world we live in? ugh...i feel like the overwork had to have contributed to him being depressed. i haven't thought of what i can do to honor him. today i had the thought that I would (strengthen) my resolve to never trust that people will look after me but then that is too negative....perhaps it would be better to resolve to always make sure I am taking care of myself like an anon earlier said...and to make sure I always ask for help when I need it..in honor of him ):

i'm sorry yoy had to find out like that anon. overwork maybe but he has talked a lot about hoe negative comments from netizens affected him a lot plus feeling like he's never good enough. i think ultimately, the hate that he got more from him dating sekyung and his fansites leaving and all the hate he received for speaking out on lgbt issues etc, contributed the most but i'm only speculating.

i think we can all strive to be a better person, and be more compassionate like he was. he is also the only idol that i know of who has asked to be educated when he was called out and that is a great testament to his character
